The $267 million transportation hub is now the closest rail line (1,570 feet) to a major airport terminal in the country. Briggs Engineering & Testing was contracted to perform all construction inspections and materials testing including soil compaction, testing of the concrete, reinforcing steel, structural steel, fireproofing, masonry, waterproofing, roofing, curtain wall and bituminous concrete.
The Intermodal Facility now serves MBTA commuter trains traveling between Warwick, Providence and Boston. The Intermodal Facility now provides service to Wickford Junction. Adjacent to the station is a consolidated rental car facility to house all airport rental car operations. The 6 level parking garage includes approximately 1,800 spaces for rental car operators and 800 for rail commuters. Importantly, it also includes a 1,200-foot, elevated, enclosed, skywalk, with moving sidewalks to help shuttle passengers to and from T.F. Green Airport.
