In August 2020, construction began on Samuels & Associates $350M, Parcel 12 project. Construction began over the Mass Pike (1-90) and Worcester Line Commuter Rail tracks, while improving the highway on-ramp and Mass Ave makeing safer pedestrian, bicycle, and transit connections. The project is designed by Elkus Manfredi, is being constructed by Suffolk Construction. The new cast-in-place, post-tensioned buildings will feature storefront retail, a hotel, and world-class office space, Parcel 12 will knit together the Back Bay and Fenway neighborhoods, connect the South End and the City of Cambridge, and vastly improve the street-level experience along Massachusetts Avenue between Boylston and Newbury Streets. The project is set for completion in 2023 and already has retail commitments.
