Briggs Engineering & Testing, a trusted name in testing and inspection services across the New England region, is proud to announce its acquisition by the UK-headquartered Phenna Group, a global leader in the Testing, Inspection, Certification, and Compliance (TICC) sector.

This acquisition marks Phenna Group’s 12th transaction of 2025 and its 23rd bolt-on to the company’s Infrastructure Division, demonstrating the continued execution of its ambitious North American growth strategy.

As part of the acquisition, Briggs Engineering will work alongside Atlantic Testing Laboratories (ATL), a full-service engineering support firm based in Canton, New York. The move expands both companies’ regional footprint, adding new markets and clients across the northeastern U.S. and strengthening its capabilities in geotechnical, building envelope, and construction materials testing.

A Legacy of Excellence, A Future of Growth

Founded over 70 years ago, Briggs Engineering has built a legacy on strong client relationships, technical excellence, and deep regional expertise.

“Joining Phenna Group and becoming part of ATL represents an exciting next chapter for our team,” said Sean Skorohod, President of Briggs E&T. “We’re proud of the legacy we’ve built at Briggs, and this partnership will provide the resources, expertise, and scale to grow further while continuing to serve our clients with the same commitment to quality.”

ATL’s leadership echoed the excitement around the acquisition.
James Kuhn, CEO and President of ATL, noted: “We are thrilled to welcome Briggs Engineering into the ATL family. Their stellar reputation in New England and their technical capabilities perfectly complement our service offering. This integration will strengthen our national presence and support our goal to deliver best-in-class service across the U.S.”

Strategic Growth Across North America

With this acquisition, Phenna Group continues to execute its targeted investment strategy across the TICC sector, focusing on niche firms that bring technical strength and strong regional leadership.

Eric D’Orio, Divisional Managing Director, Americas, for Phenna Group, said: “Briggs Engineering’s impressive track record and regional expertise make them a valuable addition to our global Infrastructure Division and the Americas Region. This deal aligns perfectly with our strategy to build a strong network of testing and inspection firms across North America, with a focus on local leadership and technical strength.”

Phil Marshall, CEO of Phenna Group, added: “I’m delighted to welcome Briggs E&T to Phenna Group. This is our 12th acquisition this year, highlighting the momentum behind our growth strategy. By integrating with ATL, Briggs will benefit from shared capabilities and broader market access, while preserving the qualities that have made them successful.”
